It is located on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s border with Montenegro and the ascent to Maglić is said to be the most attractive one in NP Sutjeska. This tour offers a lot, from a relatively challenging climb, secured by ropes on the most demanding parts of the route, to a fulfilling sense of achievement upon arrival at the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which offers a view of the entire National Park Sutjeska, Nature Park Piva, and National Park Durmitor.

TOUR DESCRIPTION:

The trip usually starts in the morning by gathering in front of the hotel Mladost or the restaurant Komlen from where we go to the starting point – Prijevor (1670 mamsl) by an off-road vehicle, which is a 50-60 minute drive. Along the way we visit a few lookouts on the edge of primeval forest Perućica that offer a beautiful view of the primeval forest, waterfall Skakavac, and the mountain massifs of Maglić, Volujak, Zelengora, and Bioč. Upon arrival at Prijevor, after we look around, we refresh ourselves at a nearby water spring and head toward the top taking an alpine trail, which is secured by a rope on the demanding parts of the route. The climb takes 2-2,5 hours at a moderate pace. It is possible to organize the climb from the plateau Vučevo, in which case, it would take 2,5-3 hours. Upon arrival at the top (2386 mamsl) we take a half an hour break to look around, take photos, have a snack. After that, we go along the mountain ridge toward Bioč, entering Piva Nature Park (Montenegro), through Carev Do, from where we can enjoy the legendary view of heart-shaped Trnovačko (Volujsko) lake at 1517 mamsl. After a short break, we go down toward the lake, along Šarena Lastva, across the scree, where extra caution is needed when descending. After 2 or 2,5 hours, we get to the beautiful lake, where we refresh ourselves at a nearby water spring or take a swim in the lake. Here we take a half an hour or an hour break to have a snack/lunch. After the break, we set off to Prijevor lookout point (1670 mamsl), across Suva Jezerina (1350 mamsl). After an hour and a half of hiking, a vehicle takes us back to Tjentište, which is the end of the tour.
